Lithium battery separator market maintains weak and stable overall this week. In terms of prices, downstream sectors have been pushing for lower separator prices amid the sluggish separator market weighed on by disappointing factory activities in the downstream sectors in the first half of the year. Separator prices are stabilizing lately. Right now, prices of dry biaxial stretching products are 1.3-1.5 yuan/sq.m, dry uniaxial stretching products 1.5-2.0 yuan/sq.m, prevailing prices of wet membrane are 2.3-3.0 yuan/sq.m and ceramic coated membrane 4.5-6.0 yuan/sq.m. From the perspective of technological progress, major breakthroughs have been made in China's LIBs separator dry process which has reached International excellent level in manufacturing. There have been improvements in wet process technology of separator which has also posted stable growth in both production capacity and the output over recent years. With the continuous development of wet process technology, China's lithium battery separator industry has also seen changes in the competition pattern in a global context. In view of the respective characteristics of dry separators and wet ones, future demand for wet separators would expand gradually but won't be able to replace dry separator completely in a short time. The upgrading on mobile energy storage stations by large companies including China Mobile, SGCC(State Grid Corporation of China), China Telecom and etc. will provide opportunities for another explosive growth of dry separators. According to one separator maker, dry separator factories are operating at full due to markedly increased orders compared to a year ago from energy storage and power battery sectors during the time that should be off-season for them.
