Monthly report: Separator largely maintains weak and stable after price drops (08.25-08.31)

Battery separator market remains weak. Manufacturers are facing significantly increased pressure on the business after the recent wave of price drop. At a closer look this round of price fall is caused by the commissioning of new capacities on a large scale on the one hand, and on the other hand, a sell-off prompted by change in market sentiment as the expectations of busy season in July and August fell through. Right now, prevailing prices for wet-process membrane are 2-2.3 yuan/sq.m. and that for dry biaxial stretching 1-1.3 yuan/sq.m.
