There have been great changes on battery cell market of late.
On the small digital cell front, major large producers have increased product price given the emerging cost transmission effect. Right now, 2500mAh cylindrical products are largely 6.6-6.9 yuan/pcs, up 0.1 yuan per piece. Meanwhile, Optimum Battery's big sale in an attempt to collect funds has brought a stream of cylindrical cells of low price and varied qualities on the market, making impact to some degree. These cost-effective cells with price as low as 1.5 yuan/Ah will mostly go into energy storage field, according to traders.
On the power battery side, with downstream demand falling short of expectations, major enterprises saw actual output at less than 40 percent in March, with some of plants remaining in suspension state, athough many expect situation will improve markedly in April.
CATL, a leading domestic power battery manufacturer, passed the IPO approval on April 4 and will be listed in A-share market soon. So far, the majority of major power battery companies have been successfully listed.
