The Texas Gigafactory is Tesla's fifth factory after the Nevada Gigafactory, New York Gigafactory, Shanghai Gigafactory and Berlin Gigafactory.
It is also the fourth car assembly plant after the Fremont plant, Shanghai plant and Berlin plant. The plant currently only produces Model Y.
Tesla's Texas Gigafactory and Berlin Gigafactory have a similar construction time and commissioning time, and their output is basically the same.
It is reported that the construction of the Dezhou Super Factory will be confirmed in the summer of 2020, and the opening ceremony will be held on April 7, 2022. The construction of the Berlin super factory was confirmed in November 2019, and the opening ceremony will be held on March 22, 2022.
In December last year, Tesla’s Texas Gigafactory achieved the milestone of producing 3,000 Model Ys per week. Days after the Texas Gigafactory reached that milestone, the Berlin Gigafactory achieved the same milestone. Since then, Model Y production at the factory has ramped up rapidly.
In February, the Gigafactory Berlin reached a milestone of producing 4,000 cars per week. In March this year, the factory's weekly production reached 5,000 vehicles. Today, the Texas Gigafactory is also on track to produce 5,000 cars per week.
As Tesla's newly launched vehicle factories, the increase in the output of the Berlin Gigafactory and the Texas Gigafactory will enhance their ability to meet the needs of consumers in the European and North American markets and increase overall production.
On Sunday local time, Tesla disclosed that both production and deliveries in the first quarter of this year hit record highs. Among them, the output was 440,808 vehicles, a month-on-month increase of 2.5%; the delivery volume was 422,875 vehicles.
