Invest 7 billion! Ningde era new lithium battery project started: Tesla will use it?

 On December 20th, CATL officially announced that the groundbreaking ceremony of the new lithium battery project of the Times was officially held in Xiamen yesterday morning. The project (Phase I) is located in the north area of Hongtang, Tongxiang High-tech City, Torch High-tech Zone, with a total investment of 7 billion yuan and a total construction area of about 710,000 square meters. It will be used as a production base for new lithium-ion power batteries. 

It is understood that CATL announced on November 5 that it plans to invest in the construction of a new-generation lithium battery production base in Xiamen. The investment base is in line with the company's strategic development plan and will further improve the company's production capacity layout to meet the company's future business development and market expansion needs.
 
   Today, CATL has become the world's largest manufacturer and supplier of power batteries. Its ternary lithium battery and lithium iron phosphate battery products are widely used in the latest electric vehicles. Electric vehicles of brands such as Tesla, BMW, and Volkswagen all use lithium-ion batteries produced in the Ningde era. At the same time, major auto companies such as Ford and Hyundai have also signed cooperation agreements with CATL, becoming one of the customers of CATL. 

CATL is not only leading its peers in battery supply, but its technical strength has also reached the world's top level. In order to meet the increasingly strong supply demand of customers, CATL must increase investment in building factories to expand production capacity. In addition to the above-mentioned Xiamen Times new-type lithium battery production base, the Ningde Times Bangpu Integrated New Energy Industry Project also officially started on December 4 in Baiyang Industrial Park, Yichang High-tech Zone. The latter is mainly based on the positive electrode material of the power battery of new energy vehicles, integrating many links such as "phosphate rock-raw material-precursor-positive electrode material-battery recycling", basically covering the entire life cycle of lithium batteries. 
Once the above two major projects are completed and put into production, they will greatly increase the capacity and supply of lithium-ion batteries in the CATL era, and promote the development of global new energy vehicles. In addition, CATL is also actively following up the research and development of new batteries. In addition to the new sodium-ion battery released in the first half of the year, the official also stated that it will maintain the new technologies for next-generation batteries and industry emerging technologies such as cobalt-free batteries, all-solid-state batteries, and rare-metal-free batteries. Pay close attention to and carry out corresponding technical layout. 


As countries around the world begin to develop new energy industries, and all automobiles are transformed into electric vehicles, the global demand for lithium-ion batteries is unprecedentedly strong. Various raw materials required for battery production have been in short supply, and prices have risen wildly. To further develop the new energy industry, the research and development of new batteries is urgent. As the leader of the industry, CATL hopes that it can lead the industry to new technological fields and solve the current dilemma faced by the new energy industry.
