On 1st Jan 2020, the strictest carbon emissions policy started to be implemented in Europe. According to foreign report, Markus Zimmer, Economist, Center for Energy, Climate and Resources, IFO Institute, Germany has some opinions on EU e-mobility opinions.

1. Long delivery time for EV and fewer options: There is subsidy of around 4500 euros for each EV in German, whereas there are indications that consumers have limited desire on EV. "In Germany's popular car category, there are very few model choices for electric cars." Zemmer noted that the few popular electric car models took more than a year to deliver (similar internal combustion engines are more likely to require only 3 months).

2. Higher purchase costs than combustion engines: Zemmer pointed out to CBN reporter that the reason for the lower penetration of the German EV market is that the cost of purchasing an electric vehicle in German is much higher than that of an identical internal combustion engine vehicle, which he estimates is about 50% higher.

3. Range Anxiety and poor performance at high speed: Zimmer told CBN Journalist: "The Germans firmly believe that cars that cannot travel for 700 kilometers are not cars. Another problem with electric vehicles is that if you continue to drive at speeds exceeding 180km/ h, their performance will be poor.

4. Inconvenient charging pile installation: Charging piles are very inconvenient to install and use: Zemmer noted that "In addition, installing a fast-charging station in your home requires approval from an energy supplier, which also involves cumbersome bureaucratic procedures and a large amount of expensive residential electricity installation and renovation." "But what's worse, you need to be done by a certified senior electrician, because Germany is so scarce in these areas, it's very expensive, and you have to wait for a long time before someone is willing to install the charging station. It’s worth mentioning that Europeans are proactively to speed up charging installation construction and there are 28,666 charging piles in France, Y-On-Y up 15%.

Therefore, according to the reports, some European residents prefer to buy PHEV as a priority because of range anxiety, long delivery time and inconvenient charging pile installation.
