Flake graphite imports totalled 9,368 tonnes, mainly sourced from Tanzania (3,478 tonnes) and Indonesia (5,500 tonnes). Spherical graphite exports stood at 3,955 tonnes in August, falling 1% YoY and 32% MoM. Surface-treated spherical graphite shipments hit 4,191 tonnes, down 10% YoY but up 6% MoM.
Imports According to the latest customs statistics, China imported 9,368 tonnes of flake graphite in August 2026, surging 425% YoY and 62% MoM, with an overall average import price of RMB 2,707.23/tonne. Tanzania was the primary supplier with 3,478 tonnes at an average price of RMB 4,674.82/tonne, followed by Indonesia at 5,500 tonnes.
Exports China exported 6,360 tonnes of natural flake graphite in August 2026, a 2% YoY decline and 14% MoM drop. Breakdown: 1,556 tonnes to South Korea, 1,480 tonnes to the US, 981 tonnes to Japan and 616 tonnes to Germany.
Spherical graphite exports totalled 3,955.24 tonnes in August 2026, edging down 1% YoY and plunging 32% MoM, while the average export price rose to RMB 8,872.02/tonne. By destination: South Korea received 2,092 tonnes at RMB 10,471.96/tonne; Japan 401 tonnes at RMB 14,372.32/tonne; Indonesia 1,462 tonnes at RMB 5,071.18/tonne.
Surface-treated spherical graphite exports reached 4,191 tonnes in August 2026 at an average export price of RMB 32,783.3/tonne. Shipments by country: South Korea 874 tonnes, Malaysia 307 tonnes, Japan 1,650 tonnes and Poland 634 tonnes. The average price to Japan was RMB 45,510.87/tonne, and 104 tonnes shipped to the US were priced at RMB 53,255.1/tonne.
