ICCSINO: This month, coal tar prices exhibited a "N" shaped trend, with an overall upward momentum. Prices dipped in the middle of the month but rallied again towards the end. By the end of the month, the mainstream transaction price for modified coal tar was in the range of 5,600-5,700 yuan per ton, while the overall price for medium-temperature coal tar hovered around the same range. The coal tar market prices this month were primarily influenced by fluctuations in the prices of raw material coal tar oil, with downstream demand playing a supporting role. The main demand came from prebaked anode enterprises replenishing their stocks on an as-needed basis. Graphite electrode and coal-based needle coke production remained at low levels, resulting in overall weak demand. Given the tight supply of coal tar oil in the market, prices are expected to continue to rise. Under the current market demand conditions, there is room for further price increases in coal tar.
