TIAMAT SAS (France) CEO Mr. Hervé BEUFFE remotely introduced TIAMAT's sodium-ion battery technology. The company was founded in 2017, but its scientific research project started as early as 2013. In 2020, the company signed cooperation agreements with famous automakers. In 2022, TIAMAT started the research and development of the second generation of batteries for medium energy density.

The company currently has two generations of products, the first generation is a powerful battery, and the second generation is an energy storage battery, both based on sodium-ion battery technology.

Fang Ming, general manager of Lepu Nadian (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd., introduced the low-cost route of key cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries. Fang Ming said that in the research and development direction of cathode materials, the three technical routes have their own advantages and disadvantages.

In response to the needs of layered oxide cathode materials in different application scenarios, Lepu Nadian has simultaneously developed a variety of cathode materials. In terms of anode materials, hard carbon materials have become the most popular due to their good sodium storage performance, stable charge and discharge platform area, and high sodium storage capacity. Zhao Yufeng, a professor at Shanghai University, focused on high-power, low-temperature resistant sodium-ion batteries to start the topic. She introduced three research results. The first is to establish the interface regulation mechanism of layered interface materials; the second is to propose a dynamics improvement strategy for the full voltage region of hard carbon materials; the third is to analyze the low-temperature speed control steps and build a low-cost pouch battery.

Finally, Qian Yi, an industry researcher of ICC Information, made a report on "Price Prediction of Lithium Carbonate for Batteries". According to the forecast of Xinyu Information, in 2023, the supply of domestic lithium resources will be 1.0882 million tons, and the demand will be 1.034 million tons. It is expected that the lithium carbonate market will show an inverted V-shaped trend throughout the year, and the average price of lithium carbonate will drop to about 400,000 yuan/ton.

He introduced that after the Spring Festival, the pessimistic atmosphere in the domestic lithium carbonate market is still strong, the inventory level of downstream enterprises and traders is low, and lithium carbonate enterprises have accumulated a lot of inventory. In fact, after nearly two months of sharp decline, the downstream industries of lithium carbonate (such as lithium iron phosphate, lithium manganate, etc.) have gradually turned losses into profits, so the problem is mainly on the demand side.


From previous years, around the Spring Festival has always been the off-season sales of the automobile and lithium carbonate industries, and this year is no exception. According to the latest statistics, the domestic production and sales of new energy vehicles in January were 425,000 and 408,000 respectively, a sharp drop of 46.6% and 49.9% month-on-month, which directly led to weak demand for lithium carbonate and downstream materials. Affected by this, the overall lithium carbonate market in the first quarter will be dominated by a slight negative decline, and the support level is expected to be 430,000-440,000 tons.

After the second quarter, domestic consumption of new energy vehicles is expected to pick up. In particular, various regions have recently continued to introduce relevant measures to promote automobile consumption, including the issuance of automobile consumption coupons and the extension of new energy purchase subsidies. The market demand and sentiment will improve. The lithium carbonate market is expected to usher in a wave of stock replenishment, and the price may reach a high of 500,000-550,000 yuan, but it is difficult to exceed the level of last year.

After the second half of the year, the new resources of domestic and overseas (especially Australia and Africa) lithium mines will be gradually released, and the price center of gravity of lithium carbonate will move down again. After the fourth quarter, the decline will probably accelerate, and the lithium carbonate market will welcome Come the real inflection point.
