Needle coke enterprises prone to halt production amid market sluggishness in July: Monthly report

Specifically, petroleum needle coke Jinzhou Petrochemical maintained routine operation, with a planned output of 2600 tons priced at 7000 yuan/mt prevailingly. Sales personnel from the company said sales outlook for Q3 would be grim with needle coke price approaching cost line, downstream sector feeling lethargic toward purchases as well as the share of electric steel furnaces going further down.

On the coal-based needle coke side, needle coke production at Pingmei Anshan Research Institute of Thermo-Energy is now on hold.

Shanghai Baosteel Chemical continued to suspend operation in July with plans to resume needle coke production in August. Its market quotation is 5000 yuan/mt at present.
