June's overall needle coke market not optimistic: Monthly report

ICC News: Overall needle coke market didn't seem optimistic in June. Specifically, domestic market maintained steady with tepid trading.

Petroleum-based needle coke producer Jinzhou Petrochemical maintained routine operation this month with around 2,800 tons of monthly output at a prevailing price of 7,000 yuan/mt, and discounts were offered for large quantity.

Pingmei Anshan Research Institute of Thermo-Energy's needle coke production was steady, and sales were ok at a prevailing price of 7,000 yuan/mt.

Hongte Chemical continued to focus on selling stockpiles at a prevailing price of 6,500 yuan; and its graphite electrode production ran steadily at present, with 500m above UHP graphite electrode set to launch in the third quarter.

On the overseas market, Customs statistics show total import volume of petroleum needle coke in May was 173 tons and coal-based needle coke was 1929 tons.

The prevailing import price of needle coke from Japan in June was 1100USD and petroleum needle coke was 1350 USD.
