ICC News: This month needle coke market tended to stabilize overall. On the side of domestic coal-based needle coke, Hongte Chemical performs steadily with a montly output of 3,000 tons that are prevalently quoted at 7,500 yuan/mt. Pingmei Anshan Research Institute of Thermo-Energy has plans to resume production this month and the specific output for the month is yet decided. Production at Baosteel Chemical is also at normal pace with a monthly output of 1,000 tons at a price range of 5,500-6,500 yuan/mt. Jinzhou Petrochemical continues to produce 2,500-2,800 tons for a month with a preveiling price of 7,500 yuan/ton, and sales are ok.
In overseas market, statistics show China's petroleum-based needle coke imports totaled 2,593 tons in November, up 62.47% year-on-year.
Major import sources include British and Japan. China's total coal-based needle coke (pitch needle coke) import volume is 1,630 tons, down 70.70% year-on-year.
