Chinacarbon news: In October, overall needle coke output edged down, yet prices remained stable, and market sales were ok. Petroleum-based needle coke producer, Jinzhou Petrochemical, said it has been conducting maintenance since the middle of last month, and is set to resume operation at the end of this month; currently it has zero inventories and holds a wait-and-see attitude towards market condition later. As regards coal-based needle coke, Shanxi Hongte Chemical is operating at normal pace, with monthly output being controlled at 3,000 tons and prices remaining at 10,000 yuan/mt; it doesn’t have pressure from inventory. Moreover, the company’s UHP graphite electrode trial production has started in October. It is expected the finished products with designed UHP450-500MM specification will be rolled out in a couple months.
On the market information front, another coal-based needle coke producer, Shijiazhuang Deli Chemical Co., Ltd has a monthly output of 1,000 tons and calcined coke prices are 5,000 yuan/mt; the products are now tentatively available on trial basis being at an early production stage. On the overseas market front, Seadrift Coke's needle coke pricing for 2013 will be adjusted as follows: SNP grade shall be $2,225 per metric ton, SSP grade $2,625 per metric ton. These new prices are effective for any accepted orders with deliveries between 1 January through 31 December 2013. All prices are Ex-works (Incoterms 2010) Seadrift Facility. Depending on packaging, delivery terms or other special requirements, additional charges may apply.
