Chinacarbon news: Domestic needle coke market remained weakening in February. Several major needle coke producers reported production was still in stagnation. Due to new contract price as well as dropping ration volume of overseas needle coke, ration volume in 2012 posed 30 thousand metric tons, 20 thousand tons less than last year, according to an agent.
In the face of drop in volume and rise in price in needle coke, price of graphite electrode went up as well along with rising cost. However, at current price it didn’t see sales. With coexistence of price rise in upstream and price undercutting in downstream, it is be imaginable that graphite electrode enterprises are facing even heavier pressure. If demand doesn’t improve, this situation might continue and price is unlikely to fluctuate.
